The ones that come up first
What areas do you cover?
Clifton, Long Ashton, Bedminster, Henleaze, Ashton, Portishead, Pill and Failand. If you are just outside that list it is still worth asking — Hugo will tell you honestly whether he can get to you.
How long is a walk, and how long is a run?
One hour for both. A walk and a run are each a full hour out, door to door.
How many dogs go out at once?
Up to six dogs at once, on both walks and runs. Every outing is a pack outing - small enough that every dog is watched properly.
Will my dog be off the lead?
Yes - if your dog has good recall they will be off the lead for most of the run or walk. We take the pack to the woods, well away from main roads.
My dog's recall is not reliable. Can you still take him?
Yes, absolutely - we will just keep them on the lead.
My dog is nervous around other dogs. Can you still take her?
We match a nervous dog to a calmer pack that will not overstimulate them, and start with walks until their confidence builds. New pack members are introduced slowly. If a dog is still nervous or reacting around the pack, they will not be able to join further walks or runs - the safety of that dog and the rest of the pack comes first.
Do you take dogs individually?
No - Hugo's Dog Club is pack walks and pack runs only. No solo outings.
Are you insured and DBS checked?
Yes to both, and both are current. Ask at the first visit and Hugo will show you the certificates — you should not have to take anyone's word for it.
Do you have canine first aid training?
Not yet. Hugo is looking to complete a canine first aid course in the coming months.
How do you collect my dog, and how do you get into my house?
Your dog is collected from your house or office. If you are not in, Hugo can hold keys for you - his insurance covers house key handling.
What happens if my dog is injured or unwell while out with you?
The owner is contacted immediately. Hugo also keeps your dog's vet details on file in case of an emergency.
How do I pay, and when?
Bank transfer or cash.

What is the benefit of a group walk?
Mental stimulation, reduced boredom, physical exercise, and learning from other dogs. Most dogs belong in packs - dogs are very like people, they like to feel they belong and like to be sociable.
What happens in bad weather?
We try to get out rain or shine. The dogs' safety comes first, so in a heatwave we either go very early in the morning to beat the heat or cancel the outing altogether. Hugo assesses the weather and conditions and gives you plenty of notice.
Will my dog come home muddy, and do you towel them off?
Probably - and your dog will be towel dried after a walk to get as much mud off as possible.
Can you feed my dog and top up water when you drop her home?
No - feeding, water top-ups and medication are not part of the service. Your dog is towel dried after a muddy walk before coming home.
Can my dog come if she is in season?
No.
Can my puppy come, and from what age?
Yes, from 6 months old.
What if I need to cancel?
Message or email Hugo. 24 hours' notice is needed, and a late cancellation is charged.
Can I meet you before booking?
Yes, and it is how every single member starts. A free visit at your door, no obligation at the end of it. You meet Hugo, your dog meets Hugo, and you decide afterwards.
